WHY EMPOWER MY HOOD?

There are so many worthy causes that present obstacles to the development of girls and boys. We want to tell the inspiring stories of individuals who’ve made a significant impact in their community. We want to give them the ability to tell us about their initiatives and see how we can assist them. This platform creates a network for like-minded individuals with similar goals to connect. Because every place has it’s own challenges and there are many people who have their own ways to help out.

WHERE WE STARTED

At its inception, EMH was a network of young people in a school-based programme for girls and boys. However, once these students left school, the programme lost steam. Now, we take advantage of our alumni network to help with the project and to keep it running in the community by offering assistance and support in the forms of guidance and resources.

Have a cause, but need some assistance?

Get in touch with us today and let us know what the challenges are you’re facing.

EMPOWER YOUR OWN HOOD

Want to start your own initiative to empower your hood?
Here’s a step-by-step to get you started:

Identify your cause

Know your passion: What’s the issue? What needs awareness?
This will inform the creation of
your programme vision and
mission.

Plan your approach

Decide how to tackle it: How will you implement this? Who do you need to get on board? Think of the 5W’s. This will inform your
programme model.

Devote your efforts

Find partners and assemble a team to share the load. Get people on board and gain support. It’s time to take action and work hard to realise your goals.

Keep improving

Monitor and evaluate your progress. Get feedback and be present on-the-ground.
Always look for ways to improve and keep pushing.
